guys my girlfriends polo 1.2 3cyc azq engine has started to give the temperature warning symbol about 30 seconds after the motor has started, it also does several beeps. i changed the temperature sensor at the side of the engine but it made no difference. there is no leaks to the rad or from any pipes and its within its filled range. the car when running sits at the normal running temp but the light stays on. does anyone know how to fix this? if so where and what should i be looking for?

First fault code is idle control valve related.
Are you sure you replaced the correct sensor as some cars have one for the ECU and one for the dash, no 100% on these though

the one i replaced was a grey sensor at the side of the engine, 2 pin. a small amount of coolant came out when i done it.
i read on another site that another guy got the idle speed warning and the coolant warning too and once he sorted the coolant warning with the sensor the other disappeared

Hmmm, only other things I can think of are long shots.
Unhook the battery for a bit may reset it.
Also is the temp light defo the coolent temp and not the oil temp as that sensor is also prone to fail.
Other than those I al at a loss I'm afraid.

Isn't there a sensor in the coolant expansion bottle, maybe that's failed?
