Further speculation around a Polo R model im sure with VW showing this at Worthersee.
Polo WRC Street: From motor racing to the street is the motto of the Polo WRC Street concept car. At Wörthersee, Volkswagen will be presenting for the first time a preview of an extremely sporty small series, which is due to be launched in late 2013. With its highly unique and distinctive design, this model cuts an impressive figure with its rear spoiler, diffuser, sports suspension and an inscription with R-WRC logos. A powerful 220 PS 2.0-litre TSI engine produces motorsport-like performance.

Dont place those orders just yet:
Volkswagen is previewing its upcoming VW Polo R with this new VW Polo WRC Street at the Worthersee tuning festival in Austria.

The new model, created especially for the VW Group-organised tuning festival, will go on sale before the end of 2013 as a limited-run special.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged TSI engine with 217bhp. That’s more than the 208bhp produced by the hot Polo’s larger Golf GTI sibling.

The Polo WRC Street is, as the name suggests, a production model inspired by VW’s entry into the World Rally Championship in 2013. VW insiders have confirmed the Polo R WRC rally car will also go on to inspire a full-blown R version of the Polo road car. The WRC Street is a forerunner to this car.

Setting the Polo WRC Street apart from its more humble siblings is a bodykit that includes a boot spoiler and rear diffuser, plus a more aggressive front-end and larger alloys. R-WRC badges also feature both inside and out.
Not sure what to make of it now. If its only a limited run model, ill definitely hold out for the proper Polo R.

I think it's better for not having foglights. Won't see some absolute dickhead driving around with them on during the day trying to look cool

It looks fantastic though, I want one. Will definitely be asking my dealer about them next time I go in.

not having them would put me off the amount of fog i have to drive though now is unreal the xenons full beam is poor as it just cuts the main beam no side lights also doesn't help

theirs nothing you can do about the dickheads not worth worrying about them

The decals look awful, much prefer the proper WRC ones. Also, what's with the gloss black flared wheel arches? Makes it look like it needs lowering! Apart from that, i'd have a manual one :)

Yeah looks like there is a huge gap in the wheel arches :L Looks like it has the same diffuser as the GTI, just polished black to match all the other bits :)

I like that steering wheel a lot, just a pity it doesn't have the matching blue stitching!

Hopefully a manual option, but if its a limited run model, they might just bash them all out with DSG.

Once the proper Polo R arrives (not this WRC Street Concept) im sure we will see a manual/dsg option as it has the 2.0 TSI engine from the Mk6 GTI and Rocco GT.

220 ps will be nice. A simple remap all thats required for 250+ps. Should make it blisteringly quick.

Looks great, though not sure about the black arch extensions. Update of a Mk 2 coupé anyone?

Also, engine choice seems strange, too, when the WRC rules state that a 1.6 T is permissable, not a 2.0. Anyway, glad that a hotter than GTI model is here – that's the main thing!

Deako – can't remember if you came back to the fold. The Clio RS was bad luck wasn't it, and you ended up with a GTI again?
