Front anti roll bar

Post by pip_polo »

What after market FARB's have people used?
I think i'm going to get the whiteline one, but want to see if any one has had problems with the driveshaft or if this does clear it with no issues.

The FK one is only £55 from Venom so im going for that, its only 20mm as apposed to the others at 22mm though.
Whats the standard one? 18mm??

Leave the FARB alone on FWD cars. Going with a larger diameter one will just increase understeer. I'd spend the money on a rear anti-roll bar instead. It's next on my to-do list.

Ash :)

The front on the gt is pretty big. When my bro fitted my arb he said there wasn't a big difference get under and measure your on but I would avoid a fk one Cos it's too cheap I think standard is 19mm

According to the guy at the stealership (when i went to ask him about ARB bushes) there is no consistency with the FARBs fitted, the size, 17, 19 or 20mm depends on what year and country your car was made. Ive got an early model 1.4tdi and its a 20mm.

But i would agree with ash, get a rear arb fitted, makes such a difference.

Front ABR upgrade is pointless and a waste of money. Nice rear ABR Would work out nicely, with a rear strut brace..

Measure it to make sure but should be 20mm as for doing the upgrade it helps with turning in but get rear one first unless ur doing clutch etc then while ur there it's worth doing but not worth just doing all the work for front one but defo rear on first.

I had the white line rear arb

Yeah poly bushes for the standard one are a good idea, they make a noticeable difference. I'd have said it will be 20mm too, but go measure it, then you will know for sure.
But get a rear arb first, especially cause you have a GT, it will make a huge difference to the handling.

I've just measured it, 20mm. Now Powerflex don't do a 20mm for the Polo it's only 16, 17.5 and 19.
It's definatly 20mm though.

Yeah i forgot to mention that, from when i researched it ages ago. The best bet is to go for some SuperPro bushes, they do them in a range of sizes, and will fit. Not a bad price either.

Hope that helps.
