Right guys,
my polo (6n2) has no central locking ive fitted the rclick kit but am abit worried about getting the 12v from the main cable in the steering colum.

basiclly i was wondering if i could take the 12v from the back of the light switch?

i dont really want to be cutting the main (thicker) red wire in the steering colum in case i mess something up and carnt start my car :/

so since the ligths are on a constant 12v could i tap into that wire?

I also installed the rclick system, and it's currently pulling power from the top plug of a 20a fuse, not sure how damaging this is - however if you take it from a non essential thing like horn.. it shouldnt matter
Since both areas are fused anyway, if there was a surge the fuses would blow anyway
I think you can also take power from back of headunit (red cable) - which is also a good spot for wiring indicators (hazards)

This way you dont have to cut into any wiring, you might need to remove the fuse box kick panel though to get the wiring done

but wouldent the horn only have 12v when the key is on acc or start ?
it needs to be 12 all the time thats why i though about the headlight switch. the headunit could be a good idea though, or somewerer in the fuse box

i think ime going to get a multi meter and check some fuse wires for a 12v all the time

i just wired it to the wire from the headlight switch and it works fine
got scared at first as the rclick box just clicked but didnt do any thing and blew the fuse after a few attempts

but that was because the metal connections on the end of the wires were touching the metal on the inside of the door

so heatshrinked all the connections and works perfect
