Hi Guys,
Because I damaged the threads on my driveshaft after beating it wrongly with a hammer. I am going to replace the outer CV joint.
Can somebody please please tell me what all TOOL's I require and the procedure on how to go about replacing the joint?
Thanks in advance......

Pretty sure the joints just tap off, cut through the old boot and get it out the way and hit the edge of the joint until it pops off. Sometimes easier to just remove the driveshaft and get it in a vice but it's doable with the shaft in

Don't forget to put the new boot on first before you put the new joint on, if you need to tap the new joint on, put the hub on and tap down on that instead of hitting the end of the joint. Pack the new joint with all the grease you get, and get your fingers in making sure the new joint is well and truly greased up. Messy job though, be prepared to have black greasy hands
Hope this explains it, not very good at explaining things lol

Thanks Dom for the explanation. I am not going to remove the driveshaft as it is burried deep into the engine bay and trying to get this it off will be a pain specially I dont have a long extension bar and air gun (encase the bolts dont come off lol)
Any special tools you recommend I might need? Also will gental hammer tap lol be enough to take the joint off? What holds the CV joint in place?

Only special thing you will need is some pliers to crimp the clips that hold the boot to the joint.
Well you need to give it a good tap to get it off, nothing extreme...but you are changing the joint anyway so it doesn't matter if you damage it removing it

I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) that on the 9N3's they are held on by a spring clip, and hitting them is enough to push them off the clip. Some cars like Corsa's have little circlip type clips that you have to open and then tap off the joint. I've never done a CV Joint on a 9n3 so I can't really tell you
Whereabouts are you based?

Yeah, should be pretty much the same as that! Just a tad harder as you are doing it in situ

yeah man. While hammering the CV joint off/on can it damage the inner CV?

Always handy to have someone hold the shaft solid while you tap it off!

Thanks Dom again. I'll get my Dad to give me hand
Hope I get this sorted as the GTI is looking poor on axle stands
