I know there are plenty of posts like this but i cant seem to find a definite answer.
I currently have a RCD 200 in my car but want to switch it out for a single din Alpine stereo
I've purchased a cubby box to fill in the gap
But now im stuck on what wiring harness to buy?
Is this wiring harness compatible?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ISO-Lead-Quad ... 1e72aba720

Also i've read that when you take the key out of the ignition the stereo doesn't switch off?
is this true? How do i get around this issue as i want to put a sub and amp in there and dont want it to drain the battery out.

I'm actually looking into getting a new Head unit too! I am going to go to Halfrauds and get an iso cable if needed. Can be sure it will fit, and its easier to take back if they get it wrong!
Only donwside is the cost £14.00 ish.
What year polo have you got, 9n/9n3 etc etc.

My old stereo never turned off when the key was pulled out, so to sort that out i was forced to press the off button!! :D , Plus i dont think i needed a harness either in my old car (2003) and it was a Seat??

Sony XAV-601BT - Anyone know how to disable the parking brake issue? (in case anyone asks why would i want to watch videos whilst driving - i wouldnt, but i have some video dvd's/cd's. Want to listen to the music!! ) If it cant be done, it cant be done!

I've got the 9n3 version.
I think its run on some canbus thing?
I dont mind it not turning off when the key is out as i always take off the headunit (detatchable) so that would switch it off right?
So if it means that i'd have to turn it off manually or take of the headunit face then i guess a normal ISO lead would work right?
like the one i posted on the link ?
And sorry not too sure about how to bipass the parking brake issue.

if you get a harness, just look for the black wire i think, been a while since i did mine, as for the power issue, find something that goes off once you turn off the ignition and run a wire from that to the hu, i think most people go for the 12v power supply in the cig tray but because i was not too sure on doing it i paid to have it done haha

Right, might need some more advice.
A dvd/cd unit av double din - do i need the canbus wiring thing to go with it?
Im not using it for sat nav, i dont mind turning it off by hand as opposed to the key thingy.
Just reading lots of thingsa bout this canbus and its potential high cost WTF is it!!!!!!

Thanks in advance...... going slightly mad now.

Just get a standard adaptor and wire the switched feed to the fag lighter socket instead then it will work off the key.

i used two of these, pull one side out, pull the keys out then use the other, i think you will get them cheaper on amazon or somewhere like that

I just asked my local VW main dealer to pull the stereo out. They did it free of charge using the correct stereo keys. :)

I should hope they don't charge for something that takes 30 seconds.
