Could i ask are the footwell lights on all the time when driving? I fancy having red footwell lighting but have them so they are on all the time while driving.

i have the polo sel they light up when door opens then go off when door closes.

there might be an option in the BCM to keep them on as ambient lighting

Are there footwell lights in the gti 6r? Can they be done?

If it is in some new polos then it can be done, I have done several retrofits to golfs so I'd imagine it can be done quite easily

right, had a look it is easier or harder than in the golf depending on how you look at it.

The footwell lights are wired into the interior light dash loom. So if you tap into the (positive) for the interior light and find a suitable earth.
I will post up more info on the wire to tap into

The golf is easier as it has it's own pin location and is switched on in the coding on the bcm

part numbers for the lights are
2x 7L0 947 415 lights
2x plugs 1J0 971 972
2x repair wires 000 979 019E

So if I buy the lights from eBay and two harness' from Kufatec here http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/Volksw ... harness-VW
use a scotch lock to tap into the interior light loom and use a o-connector to tap into one of the earthing points the jobs a good'n?

How much are you charging for your own loom?

Yeah Kufatec do a kit. I thought about doing it a while back.

Seems quite simple and would cost around £50 to do if you buy the led ones off eBay

As James knows, I have done this mod in my Polo 6R GTi.

It is quite simple but Kufatec's instructions suggest a pin on the CECM that you can tap into, only problem for me was it left the footwell lights on all the time with key in ignition / driving which I didn't like.

Extended my Kufatec harness and wired it to the roof lights but you have to make sure you find the right pins to connect to out of the 3 in the roof light module, as there are 2 specific pins that make the footwell lights dim on and off with the rest of the lights as they should if you want them to work OEM.

If I remember correctly it is the negative / ground connection that does the dimming. Hence I got confused when I wired them upto to the wrong ground as they didn't dim like I expected, out of the 3 pins in the roof light module I think one is a positive connection and 2 are negative connections and you can just touch the bare wires on the terminals until you find the ones that dim properly before properly wiring them up.

Just a bit of info that may be of use to all who want to do this mod. I bought the VW footwell modules then bought a full set of white interior LED bulbs off Ebay so I now have LED footwells which look fantastic at night with the alloy pedals and footrest.

Hi all,
I have a 3d 2011 polo Gti and have bought al the parts for the footwell lights.

Could anyone help me on how to install them. Which pin should I select from the cecm and how to remove the plastics.
Have done some search in the net but haven't found how to retrofit them.
