Hi, I have been looking at getting Vagcom but I'm confused with which one to get as there are so many different options i.e. price and limitations. Iv'e looked on Ross-Tech and have found VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) License with KII-USB Interface priced at around £160. Would this work and what can you do compared to the cheap ones you can get off of Ebay as Iv'e read they have limitations.

Really depends what you wanna do fella. If you literally just want it to read codes and stuff a cheap cable off eBay and vcds lite(free) is all you need. If you wanna do all the insane stuff the full version is reccomended but considering you're asking this question is say playing with full version is a dangerous hae. Only something to be touched of you really know what you're doing. :)

So true . I think I will look into getting the cheap cable and VCDS Lite I think.

TBH, there's hardly anything worth changing on a Polo anyway, so I'd stick with just the cheap cable/free VCDS. From memory, all I can do on the GTi is beeps and indicators when locking/unlocking and I can change the tone of the siren. And change the aim of the xenons, but that's not relevant of the halogen cars.

Otherwise most of the cars features can't be changed/has nothing to change.

A quick question about Vagcom. Recently the ABS light come on while driving, when I got back to my house I switched it off and then left it for a while and switched it back on but the ABS light wasn't on. If the light isn't on would Vagcom still be able to pick up on the error :?:. Iv'e heard the ABS light coming on is a common problem and there are a few solutions to the problem.

The ECUs will store fault codes. They may not be present, and that will be flagged up in the output from VAGCOM (marked as persistent or intermittent IIRC). They'll stay until cleared, but the lights only come on while the fault is occurring (I think, been a while since I scanned my car, and it's never had any warning lights either!)

How do I download it as the website seems to have many files and I am unsure which one it is.
