Hey everyone,
This is my first post, so a big hello to everyone.
Would really appreciate any advice on the Cup Edition that I'm considering buying. Many years ago I owned 2002 Seat Ibiza Cupra R this looks like it's about the same spec. Is there anything I should watch out for on them?
By the way I have owned evo 8's sti's golf gti's and this polo was by far the most fun I have had, loved every minute of it.! The car however is on the higher miles side 98k, it's in very good condition( from Japan)
Here's a link to the add

Also I wondered are the front discs shared with any other model vw's, it's just the vw parts dealers here in NZ are quoting silly money for new ones.
Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately the cup edition never made it to the UK and very few (if any) have imported one. She is a beauty though! Basically a gti with some very fancy bodykit, very fancy wheels, 30 more ponies and some other bits. Uprated brakes too I believe? How does it compare in price to a standard gti though?

Hey Ben, thanks it's good to be here
Well according to the New Zealand forums there are only 9 in the country so I guess I'm going to be part of a very small club, don't think it's worth me staring my own forum do ya ? ?
The one I'm buying has a number on the steering wheel says 26/200 not sure if there were only 200 in Japan or world wide.. Hmm.
Price wise because of the high miles on this one it's about the same price of the average gti, I wish it was 3 door though, oh well.
I know the brakes were bigger just wonder what they come from ?.
Really looking forward to owning this polo, it's going for an inspection tomorrow so fingers crossed

The Cup also produces 180BHP not 150BHP.

In which case I'd buy it, if you wanted all the Cup edition trimmings to put on a stock Gti it would cost loads!
Yeah shame that it's a 4 door, they are quite handy at times though.
The bigger brakes are probably the same/similar to those fitted to larger Vw models and probably the Audi TT. Maybe go to your dealership and enquire about new brake discs/pads, get some part numbers, then leave and get them much cheaper elsewhere

My understanding is the cup comes with 312mm discs so the parts are the same as the TT etc
