Hi my polo suffers from a notchy gear change is this a common problem or oil level problem? On the subject of oil I have noticed emulsified oil in the crack case breather pipe any ideas what's causing this its a bit worrying there is none on the oil dip stick or filler cap ?

I wouldn't worry about the breather hose. It's reasonably normal unless its excessive

Notch gearbox is either a linkage fault or you need to change the gearbox oil.
