6R (PQ25*). Horn via T12/8.
Before post the images of the final result of the installation of the steering wheel from the Passat 8.5 in my 6R I would like to comment on the two possible ways in which the horn can work *according to equipment -type of airbag, airbag wiring, model of multifunction buttons, steering ring, CCEmulator version-.
There are two possibilities to get the horn signal to the BCM:
1- Via LIN dedicated to buttons control unit (integrated in the buttons).
T5/4 IN T5/3 OUT, previously posted in images and diagrams. viewtopic.php?p=588049#p588049
2- Direct connection via steering ring. Normally used for steering wheels without multifunction buttons from the factory.
T12/8.
Airbag wiring modification. Add a new wire (if needed).
Take out the T5/4 wire (blue/white in this case) and cut the terminal. Add the correct terminal, MQS.
If you own a pre-facelift Amarok you should check this more closely, the diagrams for Amarok say it is T12/7 - T41/11 - T73a/29.
Insert in the appropriate place.
Add a new wire if necessary.

The next mod on my 6R will be in the same place where I am currently working on my wife's Golf, the room/compartment on the right side of the trunk, ... although the reason is very different.
I will be swapping out my current PDC 8K PQ25 unit...

My only reason, is to achieve "Automatic" PDC activation from the front parking sensors on my RNS510 screen, which is not possible with the PQ25 unit.
I am still waiting to receive the adapter wiring from Ali.
A priority 6 fault will hang on diagnosis, like the one that hangs from the Direct TPMS unit.
This does not affect the operation of all the functions of the vehicle. We will also live happily with this new priority 6 fault.

After 10 years (+/-) with the Original RVC retrofitted in the VW emblem, ...
... the factory 325N Gas filled struts for tailgate have lost a bit of punch and sometimes the tailgate stops midway up.
I have decided to change them for other 350N Gas filled struts of homo-ABILUS STABILUS brand.

For my tailgate setup they work like the Originals without Original RVC installed on the tailgate, however, it will take another 10 years to decide if I've taken the right decision for this change.

Right at the beginning of the video the car goes forward towards a wall, the parking button lights up bright yellow and the mini front speaker for front sensors start beeping.
If your wish is to silence that continuous beep, you just have to press the parking button, ... so in my humble opinion the parking button still has an important function.

At this point just comment that we both have the same Instrument Cluster with the same SW, Patil did not edit the eeprom to display the new menu (park/maneuver).
Seems the old/new RNS510 (firmware) does not understand the data from the new MQB unit for front Optical Parking System (BAP protocol).
The automatic activation of the rear OPS works as before, when engaging the reverse gear.

I conclude this modification as a total success, I achieved exactly what I was looking for.
I think I'm pretty sure I'm not going to swap my RNS510 for a DM PQ25, my wife's golf mods are more exciting now...

6R (PQ25) / Golf 7.5 (MQB)
Reconditioning of Passat 8.5 multifunction steering wheel. Leather, Buttons frame and R-line logo.
During my winter/spring projects 2022 I purchased several/many MFSWs of the last models for one reason or another. Some of them not shown in my 6R and G7.5 topics.
Among all of them the one I show you below. Purchased on eBay, and according to the description, new but with some damage to the buttons frame and leather.
Renewed.
Leather.
I receive it at home, disassemble it and check the damages.
It feels new, unused.
- The damage to the leather is considerable and I decide to try to solve it. Recycle it, Renew it to be Reused later.
I buy the appropriate leather pattern (synthetic leather) with blue thread, also a logo R-line (old model).
Result of my work:
This blue stitching leaves a special feeling...

Test in Golf 7.5 (MQB)
In the Golf (MQB) it is not necessary to install any emulator, it is only necessary to have the appropriate equipment installed.
On my Golf, everything works perfectly after testing that the steering wheel contact detection works without problems due to the installation of the new leather... in fact, it works quite a bit better. (... another diamond ...)
