Driving music?

I'm not just looking to start the regular kind of "whats your favourite song" thread-cum-flamewar here.... it has to be driving music. Stuff you can put on in the car, tunes that really work there, even if nowhere else. Preferably, just to be perverse, ones with a driving theme, though it's not mandatory.

There is a certain style to it... e.g. you can't really get away with subtle beethoven unless you're in a bentley or some other vehicle where you cant hear the road or engine, and it's got a 1000w stereo. Tunes that work quite well on a bogstandard 2x25w stereo in a Polo.

I'll get some obvious ones out of the way first, so that they can be confined to the bin of history known as the first page.

Obvious bad:
2468 Motorway
Road to Hell - chris rea
Driving home for christmas - chris rea again
Little red corvette - prince
Get out of my dreams, get into my car - billy ocean

Obvious good:
Driving in my car - Madness
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
Knightrider theme - unknown (but far too short)

And a few unexpected ones (some of which i heard on the radio an hour ago and sparked this line of thought).

St Elmo's Fire movie theme
Jam the Breeze - Chris Richards (tumlers & grit album)
Jonny B Goode - Chuck Berry or a million others
Rockin' and Rollin' - Tommy Scott
The Jealous Kind - Chris Knight

Probably come up with a load more soon enough ;).... but now i got to go to work

Be interested to hear good ones!
(and please, add any i've missed to the obvious list as soon as possible so i can bury it, particularly the bad ones)

Best music to have on when you've got a load of people in the car and you're setting out on a road trip is AC/DC - Highway to Hell :)

i tend to have a skunk zoot in my mouth most of the time im driving, so im pretty mellow. . .that is until i see a race 'A-foot'

bwaa than its all change :)

People say that 'boy-racers' (how i hate that term) are rude etc, but im the politest person on the road going ! im always letting people out, if someones struggling, ill give them a wide berth etc.

My big pet hate though is old ppl, i think when you reach the age of 60 you should have to take your test every year or so.

Old people and cars - Dont mix.

I got sent it on MSN, played it a couple times because it was essential 80s cheeze, but i've come to like it. Works as a road-tune and good to sing along to :D
Jam the Breeze - Chris Richards (tumlers & grit album)
Jonny B Goode - Chuck Berry or a million others
Rockin' and Rollin' - Tommy Scott
The Jealous Kind - Chris Knight

I admit it was because mum had put radio 2 on in the kitchen, and it was the bob harris (what an ugly MFer he is :)) country music program. But 3 of them were what kicked off my train of thought here so i can't diss em. (Johnny B Goode... well, it just sounds like the tommy scott record)
i have the original pull out stereo in mine and the eject buttons missing on the tape player
I've got a replacement for that if you want it, fully functional - only a tenner plus postage :D... original speakers, too.

anyooo back to the flow... not too sure on the crip chop turn this thing's taking, but, who'm i to censor

commentary... i find five major categories with what's been said so far :)

Surprise..
Otis Reading
kanye west, mario winans (who? time to get on t'file share)

Yes! (good)
the cardigans - my favourite game (maybe 'obvious')
warren g - regulate (the original song it sampled is right-on as well, but more chilled and less gangsta)
California Love - 2Pac
AC/DC - Highway to Hell (and Whole Lotta Woman :))

Yes!! (cheese)
White Snake - Here I go again.
Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer

Maybe..
dmx - x gonna give it to ya

Nooo!
Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison
See you when you get There - Coolio

Old people and cars - Dont mix.

Hehehe well it depends but i think that's a good general one! Lot of respect for those who give up their car and license because they know they can't handle it any more... tis a bit sad, but who knows what joy cybernetics might bring.
Can we get a law passed that once and for all makes wearing chequered or tartan headgear of any kind a more serious offense than travelling at 100 on a clear 4-lane (if you count the shoulder) strip of tarmac? Its certainly more dangerous.

OK I think i need to have a dig thru my tape and minidisc box now to see what other favourites I can find...
(here's one - Your Horoscope For Today by Wierd Al Yankovic (or several others by that wizard of odd). Fun, but maybe too extreme for everyday driving - attracts some odd stares, and it's too easy to get too far into being silly with it and forget to concentrate on the road)
