Polo Gti track whip

Picked the Gti up in December can't complain, love it! Tortures a lot of bigger cars already. Plans so far are to get it as planted as possible for track driving. So started off by getting in on a few group buys, adjustable top mounts and uprated engine mounts should be on it soon! Looking for a good set of coilovers/shock and spring combo!

Car spec currently:
312mm front conversion
256mm rears
Stage one Revo
Audi s2 plugs
Fully poly bushed
Rear white line ARB
Turbo back Decat non resonated miltek

Should have a forge TIP by the end of this week and on the look out for a front mount in a few weeks! So stage 2 will be soon also

Had to make up a spacer and turn longer bolts for the v6 4 motion brakes to fit

Plans are to make a reliable 300bhp polo that can be used and used hard in track etc! car is currently stripped out and the 2 seats are in place, just need some light to get photos

Shout out to 9n3 turbo for some advice and finding me a few bargains ;) lol

for track use you cant go wrong with kw coilovers.

yep few guys on vwwaterooled have varying opinions. i initially wanted v2's but my mind is a pickle at the moment regarding options! few unexpected bills holding me back trying to buy things.

Nice ride mate, will be watching to see how this progresses.

For the price I think you can't go past FK Konigsports. Height and damper adjustment and Koni shocks. I had Koni Yellow shocks and H&R spring combo previously on my Polo and loved it although the springs weren't quite a low enough drop for me. Now have FK AK's which have held up well even on the track although miss the easy damper adjustment. Konigsports will be next for me :mrgreen:

Looking good Sam. No problem re helping you out.

As above and as mentioned to you FK Konigsports are a great setup for the money. I don't think you would be unhappy with them. The only bad thing I have to say about them is to adjust the dampening on the rear you have to remove the shock. Other than that a great kit. :mrgreen:

Cheers VWindahouse, was progressing rather quickly then reality kicked in and need to tame my spending down lol!

Thanks Junior, think it will be V2's I will go for. They are a good compromise and know a direct dealer so get them a wee bit cheaper! Just need to make it MOT passable, airbag light etc on with the removal of seat and wheel! Be ordering a few resistors to try during the week

Indeed boyo :) just gona have to try a few different ones for the airbag plugs underneath the seats

It's probably going I be a smaller number due to them being even further from the ecu.

you have about the same plans as me, also going for a safe 300Hp here :twisted: (someday)
i have allready planned everything so if you are looking for parts or turbohoise etc, i can give you some options if you want to.
ps: for coilovers, i run KW V1, good stuff!
but if i would have to choose again i would go for Billstein B14 coilovers :wink:
slightly better as KW, specially for track use.
and also slightly better build imho.
not to brake down KW, far from it because they are verry verry good for track use also, but my experience noticed Billstein was slightly better.

oh... and not that i will set you on the wrong foot here but i have some questions about some upgrades you have planned.

why 256mm rear brakes?
and why a rear arb..?

Thanks dude, I have you and 9n3 turbo to pester about parts now lol!

In fairness the rear ARB was on when I got the car, have driven one with and without it. IMO it really ties the rear end down well, great cure for lift off oversteer and I have honestly noticed it big time as I wouldn't be shy around a B-road haha. 256mm was kind of an impulse buy, they are on now and have to say for road stopping power they are great. Few guys mentioned about them being too twitchy or even unbalanced when having a spirited drive on track etc, I'm yet to try it on track (next month or two) but I will let you know how they fair on track!

i was the one who said they can become out of balance while using them hard. :wink:
but i am currious about what youre opinion is going to be.
about the ARB, if you stiffen the rear of a car you provoke oversteer, so you might want to get a 22mm front arb to go with that.
otherwise it is also one of those things you might keep in the back of youre head and not come to a surprise while driving on track :wink:
oversteer can be fun, but is harder to control and can happen more sudden, understeer is more easy to control and mostly less dramatic, specially for fwd cars.
but i love this project and i am currious about what youre set up is going to be and how it drives :wink:

Haha with all this snow the only thing they are good for at the moment is going sideways :p

You sure about the ARB? I always thought and having driven one without one it really helped reduce liftoff oversteer! Ps got your PM, junior got me the number for the spark plugs :)

Trust me, on a track with the car stock there is definitely no lift off oversteer... :lol:
