Right so here it is. I have been planning another Polo GTi 6n2 for a while now and spotted this little find on ebay. It is a black 3 door on a 51 plate and has excellent body work.

I wanted another polo so i could do a 20V 1.8T conversion. This find had all the things I was looking for: Decent shell/body work, 51 plate, leathers and an added bonus of a 1.8t lump hanging in it all ready

The guy was in the middle of the conversion but then lost interest and gave up due to getting a drift car. It currently has an AUQ lump and 6 speed box out of a Leon in it with a brand new K03s turbo. The only thing that needs doing is to make custom shafts and wire it all up.

However I have my own plans for this. I plan on keeping the gearbox, shallow sump and mounts. Then putting a BAM or an APY block in it with K04 turbo. The reason for this is its what iv always wanted to do and the wiring in this one is just a mess. So I shall start from scratch and do it how i want and make it my own. I am planning on running the 1.8t ECU and wiring with the standard map for now but then one day up the boost and it may be pushing 260/270 bhp. I will obviously need some kind of uprated diff and fat front wheels but it should be a lethal weapon when running.

So first plans are to take this engine out and strip the interior which is being used in Phils GTI or maybe my red one if he doesn't want it ;)

This will be running a kind of stripped interior with buckets and harnesses with one day a proper cage.

So here are some pictures of the pick up. Did a 550 mile trip with the trailer to bring it back to Plymouth

This is how it once looked when it had its 1.6:

Can't wait to get this on the road 8)

I had the AUQ in my old Octavia VRS. Good strong motor and pulled well after a map especially with the KO3s. BAM internals are a must if you want serious power.

Having looked over the beast the past few days I have decided to start again on the gear box mount side of things. What the guy has done jut scares me and I would hate to think what would happen if it crashed. So I shall be scarfing new bits in and making a new mount for that side which still houses the 6 speed box. Gave the car a quick wash as it had sat on a farm for 10 months and the paint work is pretty good so really happy with it.

Let the part collecting commence 8)

Nice one Matt 8) its going to be an awesome project!

The BAM engine is not the most reliable though as stated above, anything over 265 and its pretty much on the limt before the rods start bending.
Although saying that anything with 220-230 bhp in a stripped out Polo is going to be a complete weapon :D

LSD and sticky tyres would be ideal :)

Thanks Ben :)

Yes thinking of changing the rods anyway but running the standard map for the time being so depedning what engine code it will be running 210 or 225 bhp which will be loads for now! However if i want to up the boost it will be no problem to do so.

Need to look into LSD's and see if my RC's with 205 tires will fit in the arches 8)

This is the sort of s**t im talking about!

I saw this on eBay and text the bloke about it but it was sold by the time i got to it!.

We will let you be guinea pig then i will do it!! :)

When i was talking to a guy about doing a conversion he told me the polo loom is pretty much Mk4 golf and he said you should be able to solder the BOSCH ECU plug on for the inside loom.

Cant wait to see this!
