As above, does anyone know if the honeycomb lower grill fits on the R-lines front bumper? I'm looking to replace the slat grill (lower bit) with the SEL/GTI grill. Looks so much better after seeing it on my brothers car.

I know it's still a relatively new car (R-line model) but if anyone has tried or done this please let me know .


Also how is the front bumper removed? How many screws to take out etc and location of these screws?

Hi Jay

The R-line bumper use same parts off a 6R GTI bumper, so the honeycomb GTI grill would fit your R-Line
But the SEL Chrome trim grill won't fit the R-Line, as it's design for the standard VW Polo 6R bumper

But If you plan to sell your old R-Line lower center grill, send me a PM I might be interested

I'm pretty sure you can just click out the old grill... Look at the new one where the fixpoints are... They are in te same place on the grill your removing.

Im struggling to find a new or used polo 6r gti lower grill at the minute. Seems the only way is direct from dealer which i know will be stupidly expensive.

Any good recommended vw spares suppliers anyone can suggest?

I have a rough idea now after looking at something someone else posted up. Just need to source a grill...

The middle grills look exactly the same and where the fog light surrounds meet the middle grill looks to be in the same position, if you give me some measurements of yours, I'll measure mine and we'll see if their the same.

I'll get some tomorrow after work , abit too dark outside now to do any accurate measuring

So will a chrome SEL lower grill not fit a GTI? I'm sure i've seen people get a chrome grill and paint the chrome stripe red to match their GTI upper grill?

If you want the lower grill to have a red trim like the chrome trim on a SEL you have to carefully paint the GTI grille

Does that mean my R-Line will need the GTI lower grill as well? Someone said the R-Line shares parts from the gti on the front bumper.

Oh that's such a pity! but thanks for this. Was on my to-do list to buy so I'm glad i saw this! The ones ive seen must have carefully had it painted... hmmm...

Newbie here, i have a polo 1.6 r comfortline, I need some help regarding, is the polo 6r Gti front bumper lower in size than the standard 1.6 bumper? I know the gti ride height sits lower because of the different springs but im referring to the actual dimensions of the gti bumper compared to the 1.6? I am also looking for the lower honeycomb grill of the gti to fit on my 1.6.

Hey guys, need your help, Im quite confused about which of the new polos this thread is referring to? Do you guys refer to the current standard polo as the r-line or are you referring to the polo r model withe bigger bumpers? I have the standard 6r polo 1.6 , will the gti lower honeycomb grill fit on mines?
