Wheel Help Needed! 3sdm

Hi Guys, I've looked into getting a set of 3sdm 0.5 for my polo moda as they now do them in 16". I rang rimstyle and they said they would be too wide and 'would sit 20mm out of my arches' if I were the get them. I believe they come in widths of 8 & 9.
What do you make of this? How wide do you think I could go or how wide have you gone?
Thanks!

You can run 8" wide rim, just depends on the offset of the wheel though! I'm running 17" 7.5J x ET45. I've now fitted 20mm spacers to the rear which brings the front face of the rim level with the rear arch. I don't have any problems with the fronts catching at all. You could always run a little stretch on the tyres to to ensure the tread is under the arches which is all that is required to be road legal :) Obviously your not aloud to run a silly amount of stretch, but I can't imagine you would need to. Hope that helps you mate. :)

The offset is ET25, i'm such a newbie to things like this. How do you think that will affect it? thanks man!

Not true, you can run 9J wheels on a 6R but you need the right offset, this guys running 9J ET38 wheels with 225/35 on the rear
