Interesting. It mustve been resprayed
The colour is called Canyon Red - was an option on the 1.4 16V models, and not very popular at that.

Definite respray, you can tell it used to be white at one point as the engine bay bulkhead and strut towers are white, there's also overspray on the door shut.
Looks nice though!

DVLA has it down as red so the colour change has been recorded

Yep and confirmed as a GTi, bonnet looks to have been originally silver too?

True, but I guess if they went to the effort of a respray you'd of thought they would have bothered colour coding the bay!
