Hi all,

Just put a deposit down on a 61plate 1.2 TDI match 5dr in solid candy white http://www.drivebenfield.com/approved-u ... rice/11000, so I'd thought i would sign up and say hello.

Im 18 and this will be my first car, and should be picking it up in the next 2weeks.

I'm just looking for insurance at the moment but all the prices seem abit high, the cheapest quote so far is £2650 that with my dad as a second driver on my insurance.

I bought the Polo wanting to modify it but it looks like that will be on hold for the first year.

So who are yous insured with?

Thanks Kallum :)

Try admiral, and as odd as it sounds try adding someone else as we'll as your dad. I'm 21 now and for the past 4 years I've had both parents on my insurance - it comes in handy and also saves money to begin with the additional person saved a further £250! What about higher excess?

Nice choice of car, and welcome to the club.

Mine is a learner car and i've just renewed my Insurance (25/06/13) £373 fully comp with Royal Sun Alliance.
Full no claims although i've had a non fault claim this March and a fault claim in 2011 and non fault in 2009.

Yeh my dad is at a different address and thats fine. Your job can make a difference too it saves me £100 to say im In the aviation industry rather than a military pilot! Loads of crazy little ways to get it cheaper!

Also admiral is part of a chain but probably the best customer service one and they'll price match the others in the chain so if you get it offered cheaper elsewhere then worth checking if they'll match it.

Thanks for the welcomes, i havent seen the car yet, im going to see it this week so hopefully all is goood.

Thanks for the suggestions i will give them a call tomorrow.

And thanks i will try adding someone else now knowing i can add people from another address.

I have just started an engineering appreticeship in fabrication and welding and read that this could increase my premium, so i might try just putting apprentice.

I just tried moneysupermarket and got a quote off drive like a girl for £2000 with a black box so its going down but ideally i would prefer not to have a black box.

Try lve. They don't allow mods but if you're putting them in hold for the meanwhile anyway they'd be a good bet. Cost me 1300 at 19 with no NCD. and the best I got from comparisons was like 1500
