6n2 GTI CV BOOTS

Hi guys
Haven't posted on here for a while but thought I would share my experience of changing out my old, worn, split CV boots. Overall job quite simple really I did have to purchase the correct hub nut socket though. Purchased the new CV boots from eurocar parts and they fitted fine.
On the way home however it was clear that the fitment of these CV boots wasnt as I had anticipated. Problem is they are a plastic composite (not rubber) which I didnt think would be an issue but it turns out they are. Passenger side fitment has been great with no issues, but due to the driveshaft on drivers side being a little thicker, you can only push to boot so far up the shaft before it wont go any further. As a result and due to the tough material the boot is made from, each time you put the car into full lock the boot just pops off the hub.
So lesson learned! for anyone thinking of doing this job buy RUBBER cv boots. They are much more supple and wont give any issues like i have experienced over the past week.
