Running BBX2's With 312MM brakes???

They rub on the callipers as i have found out but have seen someone machine 3mm off the calliper lugs at the back and make them fit on a golf,
the only option is about 10mm spacers, dont want them sticking out the arch tbh tho!
Any one made them fit before? or have any ideas??
