Tyres for Boavista Alloys 215/40 R17

The time has come to start considering new tyres for my Polo, having covered almost 50,000 miles. The original tyres fitted to the car from new were Dunlop SP Sport Maxx and I'm very happy with them to be honest.

In an ideal world I wouldn't want to spend more than £300 for a set of four. I tend to do a fair bit of motorway driving and I would like them to have an aggressive appearance and a rim protector if possible

Has anyone got any recommendations or advice they would give when buying new tyres?

Cheers in advance.

AJ

Continentals rock. :)

But Hankook Ventus S1 Evo is not a bad alternative... They are just as good as the Conti's. But with a little more roadnoise.

Whatever your buying check out

http://www.camskill.co.uk/

Used them plenty of times-next day delivery, cheap and massive range of tyres. I was getting rid of my BMW but it needed new tyres and I bought Nankang NS2 and they were brilliant tyres (for the money!!)

Hi chaps,

Anyone else got any recommendations or advice? Thanks for the heads-up about Camskill... they seem to knock the socks of the competition in terms of prices.

At the moment I cant decide between:

Yokohama Parada Spec 2
Hankook K110 Ventus V12 Evo
Kumho KU39 Ecsta Le Sport
Toyo T1-R Proxes

They are are all virtually the same price, anyone got any opinions on the above? Any advice would be appreciated :)

I have looked on the online reviews (http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk) but every tyre seems to have reviews which say they are the best thing since sliced bread but other reviews say they are the worst tyres ever! The reviews are full of mixed messages which is nice and confusing! I am going to eliminate the Kumhos cause after the horror stories I have read relating to the very soft sidewall melting, I'm not too keen! :)

I have the exact same wheels as you but have the dunlop tyres VW supply as an upgrade.

I need some new tyres but will be going to Costco as they only use Michelin or Continentals and they work out around £50 a tyre.

In your case, i have heard the Yokohama are a great tyre to get.

I wouldn't get the toyos. They are a good tyre but they wear quite quickly as the compound is quite soft

Your better to get the yokohamas

Thanks Alex! That's good to hear seen as i've just rang my local dealer as they advertise a 'Price Match' on tyres to which they have matched the price for a set of four Yokohama Parada Spec 2's from valuetyres!

After hours and hours of scouring the web (I'm a bit of a bargain hunter) - The best places I can find to source tyres either delivered or fitted seem to be CamSkill or www.valuetyres.co.uk. My dealer agreed to match the price I could get them for elsewhere! Although admitting they will actually lose money in doing so!!

Thats odd. I used to run my wifes old Lupo GTI on the T1-R and they lasted really well. Also had them on her Polo Dune (in 215 40 17) and they did quite well on there too. You not mixing them up with the latest T1 Sport ? I've heard bad things about those.

Chris.
