I've just got myself a set of steelies and winter tyres. It's my first time using winter wheels so was wondering when do those of you who use them put them on and take them off?

I used winter tyres on a Golf Mk6 GTI last winter and put them on late October and took off in May, mainly because of the continued cold weather. They work best below 7 degrees C so as soon as the weather starts to drop below this then they are in their prime.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, so when it's constantly below 7'c I put them on and once it's constantly over take them off? I know people who just put them on when it snows lol!

They are good for all year round really especially in Scotland where it rains a lot!. But normally they work best from 7degrees down.

I'll be looking to get some winter wheels & tyres when my gti arrives.
I use winters on my current 6n2 gti (g60 steelies with michelen winter tires) & to be honest I have them on pretty much september to March!
So i'm thinking I might splash out & get some 16'' second hand decent looking alloys with winter tyres as they seem to be on the car for so long.
