Alloy wheel centre cap help?!

How do I measure what size centre caps I need?
Is it the size of the cap front itself or is it the size of the hole in the alloy?
Please let me know

I have a new polo gti 9n3 with after market wheels so I don't think they will fit

Well you didnt spec what you need?
Just said centre caps, there are many different ones ...

So the back size should be the same as the hole?
If it is the back that means I would have to have one in the first place to measure
