Installing After Market Mirrors.

Have been looking at the possibility of some different mirrors, possibly DTM, and might see if I can go heated or electrically adjustable. Firstly can this be done with Mark3, and secondly how do you remove all the adjustment cables from the door when removing standard mirrors? I don't really want to be cutting them if I can help it, so I can return the car back to standard should the need arise.
Thanks.

you have to take the door card off m8, dont cut thru the wires i done that i now regret it.
if you take off the door card & the plastic membrane you will have full acess to inside the door. take off the lil control nob that moves the mirrors & then feed the wire thru the door & out where the wing mirror wood b.
Hpe dat helps...............

I have had the door card off previously to have a look. Now, I can't remember, but are there any screws holding the adjuster in place, once you've removed the door card? If so where are they? I hope they aren't in an awkward place close to the side impact beams or something like.
Thanks for your help.

u don't need to take the door card off, remove the plastic cover off the wiggle stick (i think it just pulls off) then there is a nut on it, u may be able to get a socket in there if not, u may be able to nock it round wit a screwdriver, take the nut off completly and u should be able to push it through, then remove the mirror! thats how i removed mine!
as for DTM mirrors, i would be after a set, someone makes one that fits perfectly in the space (desgined for the mk3) so no fitting plate is needed!

I think that AAT might have some mirrors that don't need the plate for the mark3, but I'm not too sure.

Those ones on Ged's car are very nice, kind of breaks up the colour a bit. They don't look out of place either. I'm looking a using some universal mirrors mounted onto the original base plate and blended in.

Right, I'm digging up an old post here. I'm closer to getting some mirrors now. I'm looking at some M3 style mirrors by a company called ULTRA. They say they can supply a base plate for Polo 90-94, so its all looking good. My only problem is rigging the new mirrors up with the original adjusters. I'm wondering firstly how I can remove the cables from the original mirrors, and then how easy it will be to install them on the new mirrors, however the new set does come with cables, though I doubt they will be long enough.
Any help appreciated.
