I have a 97 MkIV and everything on the display works fine - except for the odometer, which reads: ' - - - - - - '.
My local VW mechanic is using lack of mileage display as an excuse not to give me a full guarantee of his work.
Is there anything I can do about this that won't cost me a fortune..? Thanks very much.

A new set of clocks will likely fix that problem

I have no idea what the mileage is - the odometer display has been ' - - - - - - ' for years.
