Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help me.
I'm not with the car and won't be for a while but my girlfriend has just asked me if there's a way to play something off an auxilery cable while her iphone is plugged in in the glove box?
She said it just keeps playing the iPhone and can't change it to aux
Cheers

my understanding is.
Where the iPhone is plugged into the glovebox is actually an input for the stereo and if something is plugged into it, it just automatically connects to that device and plays, so once you unplug the iPhone you're free to use just the auxiliary input? This is what I do anyway with my iPod if someone wants to play through the aux

I dont think there is a way, i tried this when i got my car and when i went to charge the phone and play another phone, the iphone charging cut out the aux usage. Only way around is to get a usb charger for the fag lighter socket.

Hi I'm sure in the music player on iPhones you can select the output source if something is plugged in, like when listening to music on mine through AUX I can choose from that, the actual handset or the cars Bluetooth.

The iPod is probably not compatible with the firmware I have this problem with my new phone

The newer iPods that don't support disc mode will only work with the iPhone MDI cable, if it has a lightning connector you will need one of Apple's 30 pin to lightning connectors for it to work, the older iPod's which support disc mode (needs to be turned on in iTunes) will only work with the USB cable.
