So my car is now 3 years old, it is also due its:

Major Service - £300
Brake fluid change - £59
MOT - £49 (save £10 if bought with service)
Aircon Refresh - £25

This sub total is huge considering its only a month after Christmas

My question is, is there anyway i can save money?

Get the service plan. It works out cheaper by far.

Does that just cover services though? Or can it cover the extras they do like the aircon & brakes?

Thatll cover the brake fluid and MOT

Air con is normally not covered, and to be fair, the refresh is only a disinfectant bomb put in the car and allowed to work its way through the system to rid any bad smell. You can probably get away without it.

Don't bother with the AC refresh and check whether the brake fluid has already done, sometimes its changed as part of the 2nd year service so wouldn't need doing again in year 3.

Simplest answer though is don't take it to VW, as the prices they charge are extortionate. Whilst its sensible to take it back to the main dealer whilst its still under warranty, now its a bit older it might be worth finding a good independent specialist to look after the car.
