9N Airbag light on

Guys, I have left my daughters 9N until the battery drained. now I have dreaded airbag light on. using an ebay cable all checks out except the airbag controller #15 has excessive com errors so I can reset it or even see what errors it has. The vag com lite finds all the controllers and all the other are interrogated fine...
Question ?
1. where is the airbag controller ? is it in centre console somewhere ? I though I might disconnect and fiddle to see if that helped.
2. will disconnecting battery etc. help it wake up ?
