Less than 1000 miles on the clock and....

The responsible party didn't leave any details.

I have been quoted £300 from a reputable insurance approved bodyshop or £550 for a VW approved repairer.

I'm concerned about any paint warranty that I have including the corrosion warranty.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

Arran

It *must* be a VW bodyshop for the paintwork corrosion warranty to remain valid.

That is really bad!! Was there any CCTV near by that you could use to pursue it??

Worth claiming on my 'free' insurance then? Will lose 2 years no claims and put me down to 7 years but will cost me £250 excess.

I would just pay the £550 if you can as it's not too bad in the scheme of things b

Any claim will affect you for five years - it's really not worth it.

But it must go through a VW approved repairer? Will they even notice?

Correct

If you end up with rust, vw will use a paint depth gauge and they will instantly know it's been resprayed. If it's not done by a vw approved workshop they'll refuse to repair it under warranty.

What I thought was a approved VW repairer is in fact not. I have obtained a quote for a authorised VW repairer and it's near on £800!!! I don't think I have any real option now but to make a claim.

I'm gutted that my brand new car has been damaged and the responsible party was not honest enough to own up!

Arran - register for this (its free) then deal with the claim through them. Its VWs insurance outlet as such

It ensures you get a VW repairer with genuine parts

That would be the people that you'd be put in touch with for the repair

I would go through the endurance route then let them suggest where to go next.

Awaiting one final quote for the repair if not reasonable I will inform my insurance and claim. Just want it sorted ASAP now.

Couldn't of happened at a worst time, I complete on my first property on Tuesday and bank account is nearly empty!

Quote obtained for £600 including VAT from a authorised VW repairer.

Do I claim and pay £250 excess or pay the £600? Is a claim really going to impact my premium by an extra £350 over the following years?
