Ive just got in from my college ball. (yeh check the post time, i not joking!!!!)
Anyway, I managed to get a lift in my mates Subaru Impreza WRX Twin Turbo. Lucky me. As a fan of VW i should be discouraging this kind of Japanese transport, BUT FOOK ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive never travelled through the town of Selsdon in less than 30 seconds before. We hit 120mph, before taking it sideways round a roundabout at 100mph. Dump valve kicking off, engine simply roaring. I know WRX is "World Rally Stylee" but what the fook. Never been so scared yet excited in all my life. It is now my goal in life, at 18 years of age I declare Polo war on the "Scooby". I will build a Polo G40 which will destroy the Scooby. It can be done, it has been done, and will be done again. But better, and faster! Watch this rather "merry" space.........

I always give my mates modded 310bhp WRX Sti grey import scooby a big run for its money.
Scooby's are quality cars, in the 2.2l or US spec 2.5l turbo conversion specs rather than the 2L turbo ones.
Im just waiting for my mates car to blow up though as standard, i.e. 2 L ones, suffer from crank and cylinder ovaling issues when pushes very hard when over 60K miles.
You can beat them easily over 120mph too (not that you ever would want too), as over that speed, airflow goes over the top of the scoop. They also love forge motorsport dump valves which have seen cause a 17bhp *drop* in power on a WRX. Subaru use recirc valves for a reason.
And then of course the turbo sits above cylinder 3 and causes over-heating issues in that cylinder, and Oil changes are a pain too. You have prefill the oil filter, disconnect the crank sensor, turn it over to build up pressure and then reconnect the crank sensor. Failure to do this could lead to a bent rod.
But after all that, I still love em!!!
Although my next engine project may change all that

Well that bit of info has just been printed off! It was an amazingly impressive car though. A £7K Focal sound system also topped it off quite nicely! But I agree, in my opinion, pulling up alongside a stunning car like an Impreza, then wasting it, or at least doing your own car proud would be something id rather do, than spending money buying an one.

My old G (red one - 185bhp, close ratio'd gbox though

) closed up and drew level with a new P1 (about 1 or 2yrs ago now like) booting it on a test drive from the local subaru garage in Derby on the A52. He gave the old thumbs up with was nice to see that he appreciated my polo's perkiness. Audi TT's get destroyed on a regular basis too!
Regarding the dump valves, its the Baily and Forge motorsport ones to be careful of due to the spring load pressure (or something like that), they may be cheap dump valves but on some RS turbos, we've seen them even be open at idle - the spring load presure was that low! Lost like 25bhp on the RR! And you wouldn't automatically think the problem is just the dump valve! We put a better rated one on and boom up went the power.
As they dont like spending the money on a decent dump valve in the region of £200, with 200lbs spring pressure.
A tuned Scooby is just too unlrealiable IMO

Yeah, agree especially when you compare how much you spend on the G compared with a scooby (and including buying one).
Although, there 4wd system is fantastic!!! Glued to the corners!
I still consider a scooby/mitsi evo a step up the car chain though!

I have to be honest I have a 350bhp Nissan Pulsar sitting at home and wasting scoobies is my pastime, but for the value and nippiness of my
little Polo gt I love it and so cheap to tune! even better also much more reliable than the GTiR

as at the mo I am in the middle of a very expensive rebuild (like 850.00 quid just for pistons!) still will be even more fun when finished... as I say though my polo has now done 143.000
miles and has zero rust, flippin amazing cars

Now, a GTi-R! Another car Id love to have at some point down the road. Heh, yeah, expensive to rebuild but f

king quick! Less than a Integrale rebuild Id presume though. My oversize Karl-schmitt pistons only cost me £600 then £110 for the total seal piston rings for the G40.
For fun, my runabout GT is Great!
