Polo 6R Headlamp UNit (single or Twin)

Hi, need some advice as to whether a Double headlamp unit will fit and be a direct replacement into a Polo 6r (2011)S.

Ive had a knock on the headlamp unit front which has cracked it completely and needs replacing. The headlamp unit currently has H4 Bulbs i.e. Single headlamp unit for main and dipped beam, and VW standard DRL bulb.

But after checking the web it seems a majority of headlamp units have a H7-Bulb (Double unit).

Even though the double units are H7 bulbs would they fit into the Polo (straight fir or rewiring required) ? and if so would I need to upgrade them in pairs?

Ive asked a VW dealer but they stated it has to be the same but not 100% sure as the single headlamp unit was coming in more dearer then the double.

Hello Davey, Did you finally upgrade the headlamps from single to double barrel?
If yes can you confirm if it was a direct fit or did you have to perform some rewiring?

There are no wiring changes required on the headlight side. Maybe some on the stalk side

Without BCM Max depends on how J331 relay is activated. The thin wire that it is not the Ground in the relay adapter.

With H4 it is activated with a wire coming from the stalks. (T41/40)
With H7 it is activated with a wire coming from the light switch (T17/7) to allow HB and LB at the same time.

So you may need a wire 000 979 021 to install from light switch to relay J331 and cloth tape to isolate the wire coming from the stalks to the relay.

With BCM Max it is necessary to disable the Byte22 Bit2 (VCDS) in the BCM when doing the exchange.

Hi do you have a wiring diagram for the single to h4 to double h7?
I have replaced my headlamps, and the dip and main beam don’t work at the same time. How do I sort this out .

The color of the wire that you must remove and isolate in your J331 relay, 6R 2011, is gray 1.5 mm2 thickness according to Elsawin.
