Fitting/Upgrading to remote central locking?

I've got a 10 plate Polo which I assume didn't come with a remote central locking fob, so I was wondering how easy it is to upgrade to one? Do I need VW to program a key especially for me, or is it possible to use an after market kit which can activate the door locks?
I'd be able to settle for having a separate fob to lock/unlock the doors and then keep the ignition key I've got if it's too expensive to get a proper fob with the flip ignition key thing in it.
Has anyone had any success with this or any other methods?

I bought this kit http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.ph ... ts_id=1152 and had an auto electrician fit it for £80.
He had a hell of a time at first as he didn't twig you needed a resistor. But once that had been worked out it was straight forward.

You can get the key cut and just use the fob but you have to remove the immobiliser part but apparently its a glass tube that is bonded to the key and liable to break when removing it.
With that in mind my daughter is happy to use a the fob and her own key.

Cheers for that, I don't suppose you have any idea where the resistor needs to go? Although I guess it will be with the instructions which are in the kit....
Do you know where he put the module? I'm assuming there is a space for it somewhere, or its hidden behind a bit of trim or something.
As for the key, if it's possible I might try and transfer the key and the transponder over, but if it's too much of a pain in the arse I'll just keep the fob and the ignition key separate

Thanks for that, I don't suppose you know where the resistor goes or where the box can actually be located, as in behind which bits of trim it can fit?
I guess some info will be included with the wiring diagram/instructions that they give you.
I'll have a go at transplanting the key and transponder into the fob, but if it's too annoying I'll just give up and have to live with having a separate fob and ignition key
