Hi Guys

Need your help please currently have a 6R 1.6 TDI. After 100 miles the coolant seems to go down i have to keep topping it up in the expansion tank there is a puddle under the car only after few hours. Took it garage in leicester they can't find anything either after they claim they had pressure tested it.

The oil is not white so can't be the head gasket. Only other thing i guess it is is the water pump but there are not clear signs is there anyone that can help recommend any other tests I can do? or recommend a vw specialist who can find the issue in the midlands?

would be grateful for a response

You need to try and locate the source of the leak. It should be possible to narrow it down by looking at where the puddle forms under the car.

The coolant system could be getting pressurized by a faulty head gasket. It does not follow that you will get water in the oil.
A "sniff" test of the coolant in the expansion tank would rule out this possibility. After the engine has been turned off for half an hour, loosen the cap on the expansion tank, there should be little or no pressure remaining.

Otherwise it could be a cracked expansion tank, faulty pressure cap, split hose etc.

thanks for the reply it seems to be coming from the back of the engine on the passenger side through the plastic shielding looks like might be the water pump.

Well got the car back still the same problem no signs of any leaks seems as though it may possibly be the egr

if it is, its not cheap! ours was going into limp mode and got replaced under warranty, they seem a weak point on the 1.6
