Window regulator issues, got full new lot still not working!

Hi guys,
New member here. Got my polo the other day
The window regulator was broken and wouldnt even go down. Managed to cut it out and get it out, put a new one from euro car parts in, just clicked and the motor sounded like it was trying to move up and down (changed sounds depending on which way you pressed it) but wouldnt actuate the cables on the regulator! took it back, got another one, same thing. Third time it happened again. Had a paddy at ECP, ordered another one from ebay that was all guaranteed etc etc. waiting for that to come on wednesday or thursday so I've got tape holding my window up till then haha!
So basically any ideas why these wouldnt work? I know ECP isnt best however three in a row? fishy, wiring looks alright, havent checked in the rubber conduits between door and body yet however the fact it sounds like it's trying to work is strange. It's a 1.4 16v 75bhp with comfort settings and the most hideous cream interior you will ever see!
Thanks for the help guys

Sounds like you've got broken wires between the car and the door. It's very common on these
Could also be faulty window switches but I presume you've tried the passenger switch with the drivers plug?

Hi,
Checked the wiring in the noo-noo nose look alike rubber pipe and yep, the brown wire and a few assorted wires were about an inch apart from each other looking sorry for themselves. Can I just use like, regular wiring and twist them together and put electrical tape over them like I would on my motorbike wiring haha?
Some of them just have a few nicks to the outer casing so I'm gonna just electrical tape those to insulate them. Then my new window regulator will be delivered on Thursday so finally get it sorted hopefully! I did come to my car after work today and the window had dropped

was alright though, drove home with it down which was actually nice and then took the door card off and put more gaffer tape on it!

No - you are best to solder a piece of wire in between the break and eater use heat shrink or electrical tape to insulate it
By no means twist wires on unless you want a fire. Those window wires take some fair amperage.
The split ones a blob of clear glue on the split then tape over the top will do

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the advice matey, I shall borrow a soldering iron from a friend! What wire will I require then? I was thinking of going to Maplins tomorrow (electrical store near me dont know if they have nationwide stores?) and getting some wire as I need to get this sorted ASAP.
Thanks

Yep we have a maplins local
Get the same gauge (thickness) of cable. It's probably 1mm from memory and solder a bridge wire inbetween the split them cover the solder joints with tape - that should do the job nicely

Hi Alex,
Yes got some wire on my dinner at work, same sorta thickness and made sure it could take a high amperage. Gonna borrow a soldering iron tonight hopefully to solder a bridge piece in between then i bought some heat shrink as well, all set to go! Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the help buddy, I soldered a bridge wire in between the two wires and used heat shrink where I could and electricl tape where I couldn't. Did manage to accidentally grab the metal on the soldering iron and now have a huge blister on my finger! Got the regulator delivered yesterday and installed it and great success it works!
Very happy I now have working windows, got a new switch from VW for the passenger side controller on the drivers side as it was broken so it's all good now!
Thanks Alex
