Lowering my Polo 6R

Hi there guys I am continuing to do some modifications to my VW POLO 6R Match, and the latest I am interested is lowering the car so they sit closer to the wheels.
I just have a few questions about this and hopefully all you wonderful people with experience and knowledge will be able to give me a hand
1) Does lowering a car take away from the comfort of the car?
2) What is the exact process of lowering like, what does it involve, is it just changing the springs of the car, and do you lower the front or the back of the car?
3) How much do I lower to? does anyone have any images of theirs lowered and how much did they lower it to?
4) How much does it cost roughly? Can I lower it by myself? or do i need to take it to a specialist if so, where?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm very inexperience when it comes to things like this, and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :D

Hi, lowered my polo on H&R 35/55 springs

1) Yes, a lot worse, but you get used to it, until you sit in an unlowered car! Heard the H&R 25/45 springs are less harsh though

2)There are two options for lowering: Lowering Springs or Coilovers.
Springs is cheaper, and the better option if you have a tight budget since cheap coilovers can cause problems. Lowering springs replace the standard springs on the car.
Coilovers give you the freedom to choose the ride height of the car, but a decent set are £400+. You replace the whole shock/spring assembly with a coilover.
You change all 4.

3) With Coilovers you can choose the height. I have H&R 35/55 springs, which lower the front by 35mm and rear by 55m. Have a look at my build thread for pictures.

4) My springs cost £160, and I installed them myself since I had access to a ramp and spring compressor. I think a specialist would charge you £100-150.
