Rattles when cold..

Hi guys,
Just a small niggle that is annoying. Basically, whenever i am driving over almost all roads, i have a low frequency rattle/creaking coming from my drivers side and passenger side front doors (3-door model). It is coming from the top of the plastic door panel and is mainly audible when the interior of the car is cold. It also occurs when the engine is in high gear with low revs.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, experience or knowledge on how to stop the plastic trim on a door from rattling? Preferably without having to take the door apart. Ive been to the dealer with it, when it was in for a software update, but they basically said monitor it and see if it gets worse, but its already worse enough for me! lol :x thanks in advance!

Could be the door pull cable rattling against the door card inside

Theres a cable between the door handle and the door lock that runs along the inside of the door card
Its a case of removing the door card, wrapping the cable in bubblewrap (or similar) then putting it back on

If it's still on warranty, then take it to the dealer. It shouldn't be rattling.

Is it a rattle or a creaking sound? I suffer that on my BMW ... it's the glass rubbing against the window rubber and is caused by silicones in the wash shampoo. Cure is to clean everything with IPA or similar and then use a shampoo with no additives. Auto Finesse Lather works for me.

It is kind of a really quiet creaking sound to be honest. It sounds like it is coming from the plastic trim though - and when I pull the door handle it seems to stop..? Opening the window disrupts it but then it will start again. It's not a major issue just something that is annoying. It is intermittent as well, sometimes it is present - other times it isn't..

Thanks Alex. I think I am going to send it back in for a fix. No point me messing around when it's under warranty. What should I ask for? To have the door handle pull cables wrapped? Or have the door padded with foam?

I would just ask them to investigate the rattle, and potentially fit sound deadening material where necessary, and that you think it could be the door pull cable

Before going to the dealer why not just try cleaning the window rubbers at the top of the door panel? The fact that it goes away when the window moves sort of points to the rubbers. It was weeks before I identified the problem on my car ... I was convinced it was the door cards themselves!
