Does anyone recommend the Engine Flush liquids you can buy?

Looking to do an oil change before the winter but wondering if it will be a benefit to put an engine flush through it then put fresh oil?

Never done it on a Polo, but I used to have a classic Mini Cooper, which I flushed through with a cheap thin oil before putting in an nice expensive one.

Mind you that little 1.3 engine designed in the 50s got an absolute hammering only have 4 gears so needed it. I would have thought in a modern engine it wouldn't have made much difference?

I think im just a clean freak and would enjoy nothing more than taking the engine apart every week and cleaning every nut and bolt and bearing :)

Little point on new engines. It can infact do more damage than good.

I'd agree with the above.

I used an engine flush on my old Audi A4 1.8T, just before an oil change.

10 miles later, my oil light came on, and the oil pickup was blocked with all the dislodged sludge etc.

Fortunately, dropping the sump, cleaning the oil strainer, and refilling with another fresh oil and filter change sorted it.

I wouldn't hurry to use it again!

Yeah my thoughts were they're not really recommended.. More like a gimmick.

Thanks Guys!
