What alloys?

Whats a good alloy to go for on a Coupe? I'm not talking 17'' Venoms or Porsche Carrera Cup III's or anything, just something sort of periodish, and OE looking. I've seen a few fitted with some sort of nice looking mulit-spoke alloy that I thought looked cool. What do you all think?

Just get a set of BBS alloys that were fitted to the GT / G40, I think they're the multi spoke ones you were thinking of. Very nice alloys for an OE, subtle sort of look. Might get myself some when I have a bit of money spare... that won't be any time soon though :(

can't go wrong with bbs wheels on a polo. however, don't go any larger than 14" or you will stuff the handling up 8)

So what is the standard size for a Polo? Don't worry I'm not of the 'bigger must be better' school of thought.

standard is 13, just put a set of 14s on mine and not made that much of a difference to the handling.
which is nice

lol, you may be eating your words there Pettsy! The race cars are running 15" wheels!!! :D :D :D On a 195/45/15 profile!
But only cos we use 315mm 4 pot brakes underneath them  :D 8) .

14*6 (or 7s) and 185/50/14 profile is the best handling comprimise though.

Wheels wise personally, BBS are the b  llocks! Ive got my standard G40 ones painted with black centres and polished outer rims and I think they are the muts nuts! Looks good and can also be picked up cheaply which helps!
If your after serious bling ones, then look at ATS Classics either 13*7 or 14*7 (or 8!! )! :D :D

G40 ones are 13"*5.5".

MK2 golf have 14" BBS RA's, think 6" wide?

Just out of interest, where would 6" wide, 13" RA's have come from? Are they Volkswagen, or is it likely they have come off something else?

Thanks.

Karl.

yah, but you don't get pot holes and other crappy surfaces on racetracks  also, you can run much stiffer suspension on track

Yeah, I actually used to run 15"*7 Oz Polaris and 195/45/15 wheels on my old G40, the cornering was better due to a stiffer sidewall and being Yoko's but every pothole I went over thought Id bust the wheel, so kept pulling over to check.
The change to 13" BBS wheels with 185/55/13 wheels was better but hard cornering suffered but mostly cos they were pirelli P600s. But the LSD loved it! :D :D Drifting the rear end round every roundabout with your throttle planted 8)

Stock wheels are 13's with 155/70 profile tyres, which have the same rolling radius as 14" ones with 195/45 profile tyres. So if your after stock size as in rolling radius then you can go for slighly bigger wheels with a lower profile or you can just get 13s with low profiles and slam the hell out of you car

Bigger wheels aren't always better, gotta keep everything in preportion!
