I looked in my passenger side, rear wheel arch today. At the front I noticed a hole about 2cm. It is perfectly round, looks like it is stamped out, obviously not corrosion or anything like that. But could you have a look see if you can see one on yours? I thought it could be a drain, but I'm thinking it should probably have a bung in it, and its come out.

I just need someone to look at theirs.

There is another really low down that is bunged. What I don't want is salt water to be pissing in there getting in cavities if I can help it.

Thanks in advance. :P

I have figured out where this hole came from.

Turns out that if you look really closely along the rear panel, there has been a repair where the car has had a minor scratch in the past. The hole has been drilled to allow access to behind the panel for repair and pushing out any slight dent.

This would have been done shortly before I got it. So it hasn't had salty water in it thankfully. I have now found a rubber bung that fits very tightly in the hole, I had to craft it carefully out of a slightly larger bung. I'm confident that this will prevent any corrosion at this point.

My point is, that this could have caused a severe corrosion problem if not detected. The wheel arches are the no.1 worst possible place for salt to get and its very corrosive. Always see that in winter you ensure that they are kept clean, particularly round the lip where it can collect.

Have Fun.
