whats your window divider strip like?

The metal strip that goes between the main windable part of the front window, and the little fixed triangle.... what state is yours in?

Mine's all rusted to hell at the bottom (but mint at the top!) and i was wondering if it was common. Gave it a basic sand-down, kurust and zinc primer/overpaint when i first got it, but that hasnt had much effect it seems. Still rusting, can easily chip bits off, and an experimental push on it this afternoon resulted in a worrying crushing/giving feeling.
Be nice to get hold of a couple scrap ones in good nick (they're both shot) as i think it's possibly bending the door metal too.

Get some off a scrapper, My black gt's got K reg polo genesis doors on and the separators arent rusty. The other day I noticed that the drivers side one has gone rusty at the bottom on my blue GT. So now I need to look for some more :(

well i know somewhere should have decent ones and hopefully not too expensive - the place where i got this (mk2?!) door took the dividers out before giving it to me and they looked perfectly sound.

its puzzling though, what's caused them to corrode so badly? it looks like the entire strip has turned to rust at the bottom... like all the way thru... it's a big ol' layer cake of rust, like the tree rings in a plank of wood. They were painted at the factory after all, and that would have been one nasty bit of chipping to start the process off...

Mine don't seem to be in too badder nick. Maybe they changed the paint or something for later models? I haven't noticed any signs of corrosion yet anyway (touches wood).

Mine (somehow) are fine on both sides, though quite faded and in need of regular coats of bumper care stuff.

Nothing to do with the respray either, as they were fine beforehand.

Different story on my brothers' Mk2, as that's one of the few places it has rusted.

Mine are still fine.. but then the rest of the car only had two small superficial patches of rust on it when I bought it, so I think the last owners were very careful about it.

Back to black may be made for plastic, but it works fine on most black surfaces.. I get through a fair bit :)

Whenever I give my car a thorough clean, I will use back to black on everything. Even the door handles and plastic strips on the edges of the doors. Thats how I'm trying to preserve mine anyway.

mine are good, but if you think they look bad, dont take them out as they rust badly just inside the door cavity :o

Back to black? But I thought they were black-painted metal, not plastic....
