Did you see the Top Gear on 18/07/04? They put a vRS up against a Mini Cooper, and the Skodie whooped the Mini. Thats one fast lil hot hatch. The only thing Jezza faulted it on was the suspension, but I'm sure you've already put that on your list of future mods. :D

I don't think they do repeat them. Unless it ends up in a 'Best of' at the end of the current series.

I remember 5th gear did a race with the exact 2 same cars round the track last series and the result was the same. Mind you the mini's only putting out about 110 bhp vs the Fabia's 130bhp. It'll be really interesting to see how the 2 new Diesel and Petrol Ibiza Cupra's compare on a track in terms of performance as they literally are exactly the same car with only different engines.

My money's on the 160bhp diesel (rather than the 180 petrol though i reckon it'll be close). I'm sure the diesel would win easily given the same power output though.

check the archives of www.flixvault.net - Its an American site that loves Top Gear - they have loads of old features (including the Cooper vs vRS test and the 800 mile A8 TDi challenge)

Damn, i just commented on this in another thread without having read this :D

Given the way that it totally ripped off the line like a 1.4 vs a 1-litre and was able to hold it's own through the twisty bits despite running much wider, it's definately got a lot of oomph there. Just got to sort the obviously comfort-oriented suspension...

Their other article on the Rover V8 also showed up the benefits of sorting that - the spikey haired bloke went track racing in an old rover and was the one guy on the field without a proper sports setup, the amount of body roll was pure comedy and did nothing for the cornering :D

That was an SD1. If you've seen JC's video: At Full Throttle he soups one of those up to 5.7 litre capacity, but keeps the suspension set up standard. Now that makes for pure comedy. He lost it in the corners bad style, with all that power, and no handling.

I liked the new Ford GT based on the old GT40. Now that GT40 is a car and a half even in today's world

Real nice motor. Certainly takes the fight back to Mercs SLR and other super cars. Two of my favourite fast Fords are the GT40 and the RS200.
