So after being screwed around by VW I desided to install my own sub to the polo. It was very easy. Simply removed the glovebox, tapped the rear speaker wires at the quadlock, and tapped the 12v ignition from my add-a-fuse. Sound is more rounded, will consider splicing in an amp in the future to boost the stock speakers.

Looks a really neat install, I might consider getting one of those subs with a built in amp, saves a lot more room compared to my 12".

Yes, being able to keep the spare is a great plus. If the stock system got 5/10 for sound quality, how would you rate it with this sub? How do you remove the glovebox?

If its the same as the 6r its held on by some torx screws (tx20?) on the outside and inside of the glovebox, all easily accessible

If the stock system is 5, this is 6.5-7. Not a day and nght change, but a good bit of extra bass (not stupid car shaking). My esitimation may go up as I havent driven it properly installed yet. An amp would really take it to the next level.

All the trim came of so easily, the glove box comes out with three screws at the top (under door), two undernearth and two inside. If you have the passanger airbag switch you may get an error light if you disconnect it. The air con pipe is very easy to pull off. After my MK5 Golf it was a revelation for ease of hiding the wires ect.

Also, anyone know what the wires are? Quadlock is power, sound and car info. Yellow is video and white is twin antena. What are pink and black?

Next time I have time off, going to use one of these to splice the wires properly

I have now added a match PP52DSP to the car. It is similar to the one included in the plug and play system but is far more configurable.

It has made the sound unbelievable. Far better than the meridian system in my mothers Land Rover. Will post measured EQs later.

Are the grey bars supposed to represent 'perfect sound'? If so, the difference is impressive. Still using stock speakers?

Yep grey is the reference curve. Measured using a condensing mic.

The proof is in the sound though. Its so much better, sound is sharper and more detailed. Stock speakers. Pioneer spacesaving sub.

Its all plug and play via canbus. Power for the sub via an tap a fuse. The DSP provides remote 12v.

Also no longer need to tap the speaker wires, the dsp has pre outs

It's super easy. Unplug the quadlock from the radio (glovebox off). Add in the adapter and plug the radio back in. Job done. No wires removed, no power lines or ground needed.

How is the DSP connected to stock speakers? Always thought the DSP went in between the head unit and amp, so needed aftermarket speakers

It takes the sound from the headunit via a t harness then just sends it onward using the stock wiring. Its true plug and play.
