Hi,

I have a 12" Sub running at 300W in my car, I have no problems with noise or anything, otherthan when the music sound is low, but the bass still quite high all I can hear is the rear mirror rattling around, I mean it moves all the bloody time anyway, but Im just wondering what the best thing to do with it is.

Your ideas please... be it free ideas, or some with a price tag attatched. Just it annoys me so much everything else so good.

Cheers!

Btw... its a 6N Polo.

I have the same happening to me on the standard Beta system. Maybe not as much as yourself, lolz!

But it does look funny, when it's a standard system, but it's still got so much punch!

Mine is the same on my 2 * 500w subs, it used to hit the roof or window so i moved it down a slight touch its okay now for rattle noise - but as for trying to actual see in the mirror is another thing, it just moves way tooo much :!:

Same on the wing mirrors they move and the outer case rattles , except i can actually use these mirrors

I don't know if this helps but Mirror rattles or buzzing was driving me nuts

I even considered replacing it completely  but after having a carefull look at what was happening I took an alternative route

- I ran a bead of black silicone sealant along the bottom edge of the mirror

- before it set hard I squeezed it in with a razor blade.

- I let it set hard before peeling of the excess and cleaning the glass......

Result

- my mirror has been rattle free now for a month or so

I guess the tolerances on assembly just lead to a bit of freeplay and the mirror was free to "buzz" or "rattle"

Time taken 5 mins

Cost £1.40 for the silicone sealant (Hard setting black gasket goo)

Cool, sounds like a good idea. Did you take the mirror off? Add sealent, then put it back on? Or just go around the existing seal.

I dont mind it shaking, just dont want the bugger to make a noise.

Speakers make noise, not mirrors

I left the mirror on the screen - couldn't work out how to remove it - wedged a bit of thin card between mirror glass and plastic surround at each end and then squeezed the sealant along the open gap with a sharp blade (stanley or razor) job done - remove card allow excess to dry and harden - trim and clean

Hoorah!!!

Cool. Im not completly sure where mine is rattling. I will give that a go anyway.

Its weird, driving around, and I simply touch very lightly the mirror, on the glass or around it, and it just stops.
