How are 6R/6C GTI skirts attached?

So I've been thinking about adding skirts to my R WRC since the WRC didn't come with skirts from the factory. Since it has the black front splitter I was thinking a thin black skirt like the OEM GTI skirts (either 6R or 6C) would look good. The 6C ones might actually better fit the look of the car, though they will require trimming in the front end to fit with the OEM mudflaps.

Now can anyone say how the 6R GTI skirts are attached? Is the skirt itself attached to the body (how), or is there a retaining strip or something in between? And does anyone know if the 6C skirts are attached in the same way?

I remember reading about it being attached with double sides tape/glue or self-tapping screws, but I haven't found any definite info. And i really don't like the idea of self-tapping screws...

OK, so thanks to ciclo who posted the link to the workshop manuals, I found the answer to my question. The skirts are attached using 8 self tapping screws which fits into oval holes in the skirt. You slide the skirt on and secure it with a screw and an expander rivet from below.

I definitely do not want to ruin my sills by drilling self tapping screws into them, I'm looking for a non-permanent solution. I wonder if you can just use high quality double sided foam tape to make the skirts stay in place, and just secure them with the screw/rivet from below so if the tape fails, the skirt leaves hanging but doesn't drop off. Any ideas?

you could try silicone chalk (it's strong) and then if you want to remove it just buy the remover for it
