Engine oil capacity

Very quick question..
Doing a engine oil swap next week.. Will 4 ltrs be enough?
Is it 3.7 ltr for engine oil and 4.2ltr with oil filter?

Depends on the engine?
It's also in the capacities section of your handbook if you want absolute confirmation.

As above depends on which engine u have, think it was 4.5ltrs for my 1.6
Are you not changing the oil filter? I would especially at 6 quid for a filter, remember to take the filter out before draining the oil if ur swapping the filter

I have the 1.2 TSI
Ive checked in that section and it didnt mention it
I am changing the filter, it's just the oil comes in 4ltr bottles so concerned if that is enough.

Maybe try looking on an oil supplier's website, like Oipe(sp?) or Opie Oils, they tend to list oil type and quantity - if you are lucky.

Ah, maybe ignore my "wonderful" advice offered above, the 1.2TSI info does not exist yet on that site!

Is it not listed in the 'technical' book in the handbook pack? Normally the oil capacity and coolant capacity etc is all detailed

Thats very strange. Its almost always listed.
Anyway:
Engine oil
Caution
The oil capacity has been revised for engines manufactured from June 2011
The engine oil level must always be checked with the dipstick and adjusted as necessary → Fig.
Oil capacities
Engines to May 2011: with oil filter 3.6 l
Engines from June 2011: with oil filter 3.9 l
