12V socket problems

Hi there

I've recently plugged in an iPhone charger to my 12v sockets in the car and wasn't sure if it was drawing too much power. It worked at first, then didn't. A cheaper lead worked, then didn't after the newer one had been used in the socket.

The cheaper one worked in the socket in the boot, then, after the newer one had been inserted, it didn't. The cigarette lighter works in both, so don't think it's the fuse.

Any ideas please, as I can't charge anything now in either socket. Buy a new lead?

Cheers,
Rich

Is it a USB adapter and a lead separate?

Thanks Alex.

The expensive lead was separate, yes. The cheaper one was all in one.

Checked the socket in the front this morning and the current is still there as my tyre compressor still works. The rear socket works, too, as the light on the cheap charger is illuminated.

Did wonder if it was a phone problem? The plot thickens!

It could well be a phone problem if your tyre compressor works as expected

Try a different phone or iPod on it if you can :)
