Polo GTI PCP and options

Hi, long time lurker but new member.

Appologies for the huge post I'm about to write

I currently drive a white 63 plate polo 1.2 and I am looking to upgrade to the new GTI.
Im looking at £1000 deposit, 5000 miles a year, over 48 months and want to keep under the £200 a month mark

Ive received a few quotes from Carwow on 2 specs and these are the best 2:

New Polo GTI 1.8 TSI GTI 3dr £18,900
Premium paint - Oryx White £955
Electric glass sunroof - £855.0
Parking pack - Polo - £425.0
Car-Net App-Connect - £100.0

Total RRP £21,235
Cash Offer - £18,915 - £2,320 off - 10.9% saving
Finance Offer - £17,915 - £3,320 off - 15.6% saving

This works out at £231.62 per month

or spec B:

New Polo GTI 1.8 TSI GTI 3dr £18,900
Solid - Black £0
Parking pack - Polo - £425.0
Car-Net App-Connect - £100.0

Total RRP £19,425
Cash Offer £17,331-£2,094 off - 10.8% saving
Finance Offer£16,331 - £3,094 off - 15.9% saving

This works out at £193.21 per month.

I was pretty much decided on the free black paint and no sunroof for £193.21 a month but have read the black paint is a nightmare for scratches and marks.

So firstly do these look like good quotes? and what would be your recommendations?
black? pearl black? oryx white? roof? no roof?

Thanks for reading all of that...

Gary

I'd advise you to get metallic paint over a solid colour. Solid colours look great when clean but provide no shine when dirty (metallic still has some shine come through) plus they show marks and scratches really really well. They are easier to touch up with paints if you need to however. Black is a bugger to keep clean too and shows swirl marks really easily. Plus on most cars they use a grey primer under the black paint, so any chips and scratches are immediately obvious.

The only exception to this (in my opinion) is white. I've yet to find a metallic white car that justifies the large premium price over solid white. White cars also use a white primer, so any stone chips etc aren't as easy to see. I'd either get black and accept it's going to get dirty quickly and show marks or I'd just get the solid white.

Either way you're getting a great car (I've test driven it). Both the finance offers seem ok and if it's a decent dealer they'll better it. That's what mine did when I bought my wifes car by presenting them with a Car Wow quote. Knocked and extra £20 a month off.

Also, for the relatively small additional cost, I'd add either the Light & Sight Pack (Automatic dimming rear view mirror, Automatic headlights with coming / leaving home and automatic rain sensing wipers) @ just £150.00, or combine with Electrically Folding mirrors as part of the Convenience Pack for only £255.00.

These really add to the premium feel of the car and will cost a small fortune to add afterwards, and you will probably kick yourself for not specifying them, as well as making the car more desirable when you come to sell.

11% is about the max discount you'll get. Drive the Deal are quoting £17,773.80 for the white car you specified. That includes the £1000 contribution for taking out a VW PCP.

Also remember that they are offering 2 years / 20K miles servicing for £149 if on PCP, which is probably worth taking too.

The white paint with the sunroof looks stunning IMO, great contrast between the white paint and black roof, makes the car look really unique :)

Black paint looks really nice but is a nightmare to keep clean and doesn't show the detailing on the car as well as other colours in my opinion.

As always, all down to preference.

Like Norbreck said, stuff like the convience pack is a must as it costs so little and should be worth more to enthusiasts when the time comes to sell it. Regarding black or white, I had the same dilemma. Everyone I have spoke to said get pearl over flat for the black. Problem with black is that it's a nightmare to clean but looks amazing when it is. BTW £193 a month on pcp sounds very good! How many years was that over?

My spec and price below. I was going to get my car through CarWow, but wasn't massively more through the dealer.

PCP

3 dr
white
dsg
winter pack
convenience pack
cruise & park pack(reverse camera)

plus scotch guard/floor mats/full tank of fuel on delivery
2 year service plan

over 3 years - £4500 deposit - £220 a month. 13,000 miles per year.

I'll most likely be buying it at the end of 3 years too.

I really want the Orxy white but I'm struggling to justify the huge price tag. I have a flat white polo now and it never looks clean for long.
I think the pearl black is going to be a good medium ground.

That was the plan to take it to my dealer and see if they can better it, hopefully I can add the pearl paint and maybe 1 or 2 extras and still stick to my £200 budget!

Yeah i think your right, I was try to be sensible and keep down the monthly payment but I think id kick myself for not paying the extra few £
