Hi all, have been a member for a few months and GT finally arrived yesterday.

Has anyone managed to get mirrorlink working with a HTC m8? I can't even get the USB to get recognised on the headunit..........

Any advise welcome, thank you.

Nope.

I have the USB setting on the phone to mirror link but all it does is charge the phone.

Interesting

In the first instance - restart the phone fully and remove the battery if you can

Check for a software update - what version of android are you running?

Have you tried a different Micro USB cable?

Does the composition media recognise the phone for normal media streaming?

Thanks for this.

I shall reboot the phone in a minute and try again.

It's running 5.0.1 no updates found.

I'll find a different cable tonight and try.

It's streams on Bluetooth and plays music perfectly, yes.

My next question - now it's working why does it say I can't use whilst driving ? I kind of thought this was the point of it. I don't want to watch video but i stream music from Google play.

Its got a lock on it to prevent it being used whilst driving

I believe there is a workaround though - have a search on the forum as this has been brought up before.

I had a little look before I posted and didn't find anything but will have a proper look later. Thanks again.

Apparently the app has to be 'drive' certificated. There arent many that are which makes it annoying

Does sound a little daft . I get the reasons on somethings but on music apps I'll have to stop to do anything lol.

Not the end of the world though I guess I could just Bluetooth. Being able to register 2 BT devices is great .

I've got the same setup...

Sat Nav - Sygic Car
Music - Google Music
Texts and Mail - Google Apps/ Google Now!

Disable HTC Car app from automatically starting it affects the way mirrorlink interacts with the phone and then causes it to crash. I've had it since January and it works well providing you accept the limitations of the Mirrorlink system.
