Just put a deposit down on a 2012 1.4 match.
When the climatronic was on I noticed the fan was pulsing on and off every couple of seconds. I turned the temp up and the fan went on constantly. When lowered again it pulsed. The sales guy reckons its just the thermostat regulating the temp but I'm not convinced.
Would like some confirmation whether this is normal or not before the balance gets paid!

Fan shouldnt pulse. Should be constant all the time.

The thermostat just opens and closes the heater valve to heat/cool the air as appropriate

Well, it has a month left on VW's warranty and it has been in to get fixed since I posted this thread so fingers crossed all sorted!

Update- the dealer took it to VW, they regassed it and said that they thought "it had been regassed with the engine running, which put it in safe mode. regassed it again and reset"

Guess what, it is still doing it!

Take it back again and tell them your not gonna accept it unless it's fixed.

Its too far to go to the dealer but they are part of a national chain so hoping to get this sorted. I'm hoping for some info to arm myself with!

I had a brand new Peugeot 307 do something very similar to what you describe a few years back.

If I remember correctly they replaced the aircon control unit/fan controller.

Could be the climatronic unit is kaput? Do you know for sure they took it to a VW garage? It sounds like it should be easily diagnosed via the dealer systems if it's constantly doing it.

It's certainly not working correctly anyway, so they need to sort it.

Yes, I have a bill for a £70 re gas from the Main VW dealer (the place I got the car from paid it)
