Paddle shift broken.

Ok , hands up, I'm a t**t!
I tried to fit an after market paddle extension today on the wheel
I've managed to ruin the right hand paddle switch which now no longer works (electrically).
Is the paddle shift easy enough to replace or have a cocked up big time?

Yes, easy to replace. Airbag out, then just need to unscrew the old paddle, unplug and fit new one in reverse order.

Thanks.
Spoke to VW this morning and they don't have any for a 15 plate so have got to wait two weeks.......
Presumably we don't know of any other option?

... I don't see how you could have stopped the paddle shifter from working by sticking an extension onto the paddshift (double sided taped I presume?) book the car in for a warranty repair

Fella, don't ask....lol.
You are correct - sticking on would not have caused it to break however I thought it would be a good idea to over "engineer" the fitment by drilling two very small pilot holes for two little screws.
This is where the muppetry kicks in because if you go to far through the plastic you mangle the electronics behind hence my 2 week wait and £250 bill.........

Oops!
Ah well, lesson learned for you and shared with the rest of us, which is good!
When you get your replacement, just to say, the 3M tape supplied with my extensions has done a sterling job and hasn't shifted. I made sure the paddle was cleaned with an alcohol wipe, and that I did the sticking on a warm day. I then didn't touch the paddles until the next morning to give time for the adhesive to really cure. I'm not sure they'd be easy to get off now!
